    traduction français vers anglais [PRO]
    Bus/Financial - Finance (général)
Terme ou expression en français : prêt hypothécaire non affecté
This is the website of a well-known French bank, advertising financing services to non-residents looking to buy property in France. This section lists the financing products it offers. One of them is "**Prêt Hypothécaire non affecté** (à taux fixe et révisable)". Is this "mortgage line of credit..."?
(The other product listed is 'Prêt In Fine sans adossement (à taux fixe et révisable)' which I understand to be 'non-asset-backed bullet loan (fixed or reviewable rate)'
Many thanks as always for your help :-)

    secured personal loan
    Explication :
It means a secured loan which can be used for any purpose. Here's a definition:

Certaines banques sont susceptibles d’intervenir en prêt hypothécaire non affecté (prêt dont le montant n’est pas affecté à une opération particulière).

As it happens, the client got back to me and said they preferred 'home-equity loan' or a close variant, as 'secured personal loan' could also be (eg) a car loan where the car is the collateral. As for selecting your answer, I just wanted to have some way of acknowledging your help/contribution/help in this discussion.

Hope this doesn't sound like sour grapes, but it seems strange to select my answer (which two people agreed with) and then enter something completely different in the glossary.
